Macquarie Schools' Cup

The Macquarie Schools' Cup is a secondary school debating tournament which has been hosted and run by Macquarie University Debating Society (MUDS) since 2000. Senior, Intermediate and Junior Division Tournaments are held each year, catering for Years 11 & 12, 9 & 10 and 7 & 8 respectively. Starting in 2008 a Primary tournament will be initated for the first time. The tournament invites government and non-government schools within the Sydney region to take part in a day of fierce yet friendly debating competition.

Junior Schools' Day - 23rd September
The speaking time for each speaker in the Junior Division will consist of six (6) minutes, with a warning bell at four (4) minutes, two bells at six (6) minutes, and a continuous bell at seven (7) minutes. Students will not find out whether they are affirmative or negative until approximately 30 minutes before the debate.

Schools who have previously participated should receive a registration pack in the mail. Forms are also available on this website and can be returned via post/fax/email.
