Internals & Regionals

Weekly debates

Tournaments | Easters | Australs | Worlds | 3-on-3 Debating | BP Debating | Home

Internal competition: a low key and pain-free way to gain some debating experience. Every Monday. Both Semesters.

                       When: Every Monday Night, 6pm

Where: W5C lower level main room.

In First semester we debate in Australs 3 on 3 style - to get us ready for Easters and Australs tournaments! In Semester 2 we debate in the British Parliamentary “Worlds” Style. This is a whole lot of fun! Topic areas for Internals will often be released on the Sunday.

Regional Competition: involves debaters from the USyd, UNSW, UTS and Macquarie, and is hosted by University of Sydney on Wednesday evenings from 6PM. The competition runs from early in the year – call a fellow debater to meet outside W5C and leave as a group at 5PM, or we'll see you there!

When: Every Wednesday Night, 6pm.

Where: University of Sydney

It’s best if you form a team to head to Sydney on a Wednesday beforehand. You can do that at internals, or by contacting MUDS President, Thomas Hosking, at thomashosking at hotmail dot com or Secretary James O’Brien at jpeob at hotmail dot com.

Some past “internals” topics:

That royal visits should by funded by the public purse.

That Mamdouh Habib should be paid for interviews.

That the expansion of the EU will lead to a more stable world order.

That Australia should send more troops to Iraq.

That First World Countries should not buy timber from countries that do not practice sustainable logging.
