Points system
Recently we’ve been considering a merit system that would assign a “point” value to various activities that benefit the society. Members could accrue points by helping out, and those points would entitle members to subsidies for tournaments.
For example, adjudicating at one of our Schools’ Day events might earn you 40 points, and volunteering for a few hours at our O-Week stall might earn you 10, and with those 50 points, MUDS might then subsidise your registration fee for a tournament such as Australs or Worlds.
Everybody would still be welcome to trial and qualify to attend any tournament, but members with points would get financial help from the society if they qualified. The idea is that the society should provide the same opportunities to everybody, but also give something extra to those members who give a bit extra during the year.
Because MUDS hasn’t done anything like this before, we want to make sure everyone has the chance to know about the proposal, have their questions answered, and be part of the process of deciding how it will work.
